ANCESTRAL GODS AND GODDESSES
The records, books and art work of our ancestors have received slight attention in this country. A knowledge of our Forefathers would naturally operate a powerful means of keeping alive, among us and our children, that spirit of courage, enterprise and independence of our ancestors.
The religion of our ancestors forms an important chapter in the history
of our race. It is sad that the religion of our Forefathes is little cared for by our schools and media. Our children know all about the legends of Rome, Greece, India and China.
But when introduced to the shinning halls of Valhalla and Gladsheim they know nothing. They do not know about Idun and her healing apples. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". Do they know that Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are named after Tyr, Odin, Thor and Freya?
In the artwork and books of our ancestors are the concentrated energies of the greatest intellectual and spiritual efforts of our race.
It is time to brush the dust off these Gods and Goddesses of our ancestors and put them on pedestals in our museums, libraries and schools as well as in our homes.
Our children must learn to use what has been inherited from our ancestors. Our ancestral dieties want a place in our hearts and in our homes.
Our Gods and Goddesses and Heroes were consigned to oblivion by Christiantiy. All the knowledge of the Odinic Religion would have been totally obiterated had it not been for the skalds of Iceland.
Here the writings of laws and sagas give us a clue to our ancestors. Iceland is to us Northern Europeans what Greece and Rome are to the South of Europe.
Our ancestral spirit must be preserved. Give your children a gift of a Viking Print (does not have to be mine) or tell them a Viking Tale.
